Komitu Architects - working group Aaltonen Hovila Kassi Koivisto Suomi Virkkala
Komitu is a group of six young architects who joined forces to design the Kouk Khleang Youth Centre in 2010. All share the belief that architecture can have a positive impact on society, the planet and people’s quality of life. Their belief is that good architecture is people-driven, ecological, ethical and sensitive to its cultural context: a high-quality living environment is everyone’s inalienable right.
To ensure the building is fit-for-purpose, future users take part in the co-design process. Komitu believe that the impact of a building can grow many-fold through knowledge-sharing. They combine traditional construction methods with innovations and natural, locally sourced materials.
